Rained all day, (temptation to use awful pun avoided!) but spirits were high. Brian Child was in early to hoist a special Diamond Jubilee Flag to the top of the mast above The Guildhall by the Market Square. Brian explained that the Union Jacket had at it’s centre pictures selected from local Cambridge school children.
Later in the day the University Vice Chancellor, along with the great and the good of Cambridge (and also some Cambridge tour guides!) were in attendance at a service of celebration at Great St Mary’s Church and by invation afterwards to enjoy a reception in the Combination Room at Old Schools.
